Soon it's off to sleep

I finally finished my icons, and now I'm all iconed out for the moment. I'll be going to "work" tomorrow. Funny how I wasn't supposed to be called for subbing until Feb. But I guess Jan 31st, is just as good. I don't care it means I'll be getting paid something. And I'll find out if teaching is something that I want to go into. I might even ask to be placed on a high school sub list.

But tomorrow I'll be haning with some 2nd graders. I was thinking about their ages and realized that I'm nearly 20 years older than they are. I find it amusing.

Perhaps it's just strange to me how life works like that. It would be cheesy to say "a real circle of life", but in a sense it's actually true.

Ok ignore that last statment. I think the lack of sleep is getting to me.

Just hope that I survive tomorrow. At least I'll have a teaching assistant in the room with me for most of the day.

2nd grade

It's been quite sometime since I've been in a second grade classroom. When I was in second grade I was living in Virginia. Anyway...

The kids were actually sweet. Now if they're like that all of the time, I have no clue, but I wouldn't mind working with that class again. I've heard that there were 160 students out of school today, and I've noticed that some schools are closing because of the absent students. Two out of my class went home early today from being sick. Both having a sore throat, and I'm almost certain that one of them has strep. I remember having strep throat in second grade and I was out of school for two weeks with it.

I taught the following subjects: Spelling, Grammar, Reading (oooo I played a tape that "read" to them), Math (suddenly it seems so easy now...) and they did their own journal entries and SRA's...whatever those things are.

I have to admit that I had fun, and tomorrow should be even more interesting. I'll be milling around with a kindergarten class. Today I had hip huggers and tomorrow my knee knockers. HAHA!

Good side...I made $45 today. Won't see the fruits of my labor until the end of March, but I will see it.
